The number of social programs are far and few between when addressing this issue. Life Management Centers of Texas is directly supporting a family with a son, the father, and the grandfather being incarcerated.

It is these type of social issues which call for more community and social interventions to help families with these types of mental health issues. Through the collaborative efforts of multiple resources and community based organizations, we are able to meet the needs of those who have mental health challenges from various backgrounds across the spectrum. Our special programs addresses the needs of children and families who have experienced more long term traumas such as generational incarceration, sex-trafficking, physical abuse, substance abuse, LGBTQ abuse, suicide, autistic disorders and much more. Many families describe the experience of leaving high school as “falling off a cliff.”-Institute of Education Sciences Jun 2015. In the absence of appropriate services and supports, young adults with ASD may struggle in finding employment and maintaining social connections after they leave high school. According to new research from the Trevor Project, 46 percent of LGBTQ teens (ages 13–17) seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year, versus 22 percent of all teens. Our special programs are effective at leveraging our internal services as well as those who we partner with in order to help these individuals experience recovery, positive educational development and personal growth. This is evident in our after school programs, basic needs drives, and educational workshops for children, adolescents, and adults.
